In 2006 JoJo Spook-Artist was featured on "Coxy"s Big Break" on channel 7, in her Art Gallery on Phillip Island. Journalist Louise Clifton-Evans from the Herald Sun descibed JoJo Spook as a "Fashion Rebel". Micheal Berry, author of "Contemporary Artists of Australia", quoted works in this book by JoJo Spook as "Quirky and Satirical". Selected for over 40 group shows, her work has travelled interstate and in Melbourne including Federation Square, Crown Casino and the Telstra Building. JoJo"s work also being illustrative of feminity and costume like, has led to several on stage catwalk appearances in Melbournes Comics Lounge and on Channel 31.Completing over 15 solo shows, the most largest and successful called "Assembled Fashion" displayed over 40 wall piecesand was held at the Fedration Gallery in the Frankston Arts Centre in 2006.Winning many awards, locally and in Melbourne JoJo was awarded the "Emerging Artist" Award at Cube 37, in Frankston for a hanging dress made from 100 year old piano rolls to celebrate music. Also won in 2003 the "Tina Wentcher Sculpture Prize", at the Telstra Building in Melbourne and the "J.E Earl, prize at Monash.JoJo"s love of education has led to the completion of a Masters Degree, her thesis called "Uncomfortable fashion". Previous education at Monash spans across 10 years with a Bachelor of Craft, a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Diploma of Education all at Monash. Jo Jo has been Teaching at Chisholm Institute of Tafe specializing in Sculpture for several years adding a new spin to comtemporary sculpture and practice. JoJo has also co-ordinated and curated several group shows, the largest event " The San Remo District Sculpture Festival" on Phillip Island.JoJo"s wall assembledges are quite unique expressing elements of humour, a slave to fashion, recyling and womens issues. JoJo"s Inspiration comes from whats going on in the world, current affairs programs and the newspaper. When the "SARS" disease infected the world JoJo constucted a pair of anti SARS sandals for protection. JoJo"s work is always challenging to the eye as the found objects used portray transformation. Mainly life size these wall assembledges express body shape, body adornment, modification and societies obsession with looking beautiful at whatever the cost. JoJo has ongoing representation at the Jackman Gallery in St Kilda, Intrude Gallery in Fitzroy, Studio One in Mt Gambier ( S.A ) and Mingarra Fine Art in Phillip Island.
