Bob Hickman

Bob’s recent work encompasses his wonderment and intrigue at what lies within our city’s laneways.
The graffiti strewn laneways , their weathered facades with peeling posters and discarded crates present a myriad of possibilities for creative interpretation. A sinister, surreal and enticing landscape hidden away behind the bustling thoroughfares of our modern metropolis .Truly a place of light and shade in every sense

Bob was born in Kingston, Surrey, England and shared his childhood in both England and Victoria, Australia. He completed his formal education at Rutlish School in Surrey and went on to achieve a Diploma in General Art and design at Croydon College of Art in London and a Bachelors of Art Honours degree in Fine Art at Loughborough College of Art.
He has spent the last 22 years in Australia, employed mainly in the Graphic arts industry in Melbourne. Ten years ago he moved to South Gippsland, with his now  late wife Alison, and began teaching adult education in painting and sculpture .
Bob works mainly in acrylic on canvas and paper.
His paintings hang in both private and public collections in Australia, Britain and France.
